ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY WITHOUT A TELESCOPE

I became interested in astrophotography in the early 1990's. I was drawn to it from having an interest in astronomy and photography. It is not easy to explain why anyone would want to become involved in astrophotography. After all, who in their right mind would set out to photograph objects, many of which are invisible to the naked eye, are millions of miles away and are constantly on the move!

The images are all taken without the use of a telescope and are generally taken with a 35mm SLR camera and a standard range of Pentax lenses. Part of the fun for me, was in making my own star tracker. This makes each successful image all the more rewarding. As well as images, I have included some tracker design and equipment info, which may be of interest for those considering taking up this challenging and rewarding hobby.
