I started taking photgraphs at the age of 8 years old when given a Kodak Hawkeye 127 box camera by an uncle who had exchanged 20 cigarettes for it on a railway station in Austria at the end of the war. This started a life long love of photography and image recording.

Subjects include trains and railways, both other life long interests, as well as historical photography and electronic restoration of old photographs.

I now have over 50 years photographic experience.

The original camera was lost many years ago but such joy when I found another at a Camera Fair at Dartford in October 1999. Price £10.00

On leaving school I went into radio and television engineering then on to electronics. Eventually I joined the photographic industry as Chief Engineer at KIS Services (UK) Ltd, working on high speed commercial photo processing machines, then via several other companies to Photo Express 2000 Ltd as UK Technical Manager. At last I was able to combine my professional skills with the love of photography. Along the way I spent two years running a research and development project, speeding up C41 and EP2 processes as well as film and print processing machines.

This was probably the most enjoyable series of jobs I ever had. It was always a pleasure to go to work - or perhaps it should it be 'play'.

PROJECT TRANSPORT

Initially I used a Ford Sierra 2.3D Estate which was a company car but this was lost in 1992 due to company closure. The next was a Honda Vision 50cc mini scooter, then a Kawasaki AR80 motorcycle.

The AR80 should have been replaced by a car but due to the failure of my solicitor to complete a compensation claim for a road traffic accident on time it had to be kept on the road for much longer than expected.

In August 1999 an interim payment was obtained sufficient to allow the purchase of a Ford Fiesta 1.8D saloon.
