Most people would have heard of the Christmas Shoe Box Appeal. The organisation behind it, Samaritan’s Purse, work tirelessly throughout the year raising money for other projects.
Some people have to walk 4 miles to fetch water, so the challenge is for YOU to walk 4 miles and pay £4 (or more) for doing so. Samaritan’s Purse provide special AFRIPUMPS that can pump water from as deep as 100 metres and BIO SAND FILTERS. Money raised by this national initiative will help fund these projects.
Visit their web site, www.turnonthetap.org.uk for more information.

:
There were not as many walkers this year - 16 adults, one baby in harness and no dogs.
We had a good walk on road, footpath and track skirting Neston, Whitley and Purlpit (4 miles), which we managed to do before the heat of the day (and in particular the heat of the following week!)
We enjoyed a picnic lunch at the Chapel with those who could stay and reminded ourselves of the fact that folk have to walk this distance every day to collect muddy water.
£136 has been raised so far, with a little more sponsorship money to come.
