AAA Points for your DIY by GPS
It's not very clear on the Audax UK website, but you can claim AAA points for your DIY by GPS, as long as it's hilly enough of course.
Just submit your tracklog after the event as normal to the regional organiser, and ask for the AAA points to be assessed. They will eventually appear on the Results pages of the website, usually a couple of weeks after the event itself has been recorded there.
Normal AAA rules apply, and the AAA points count towards all the AAA awards.
That's all there is to it. So there's even more reason to add a bit of scenery to your DIY's.
Note that AAA points are not available for ordinary DIY's because of the administrative overhead.

The Aims of the AAA
To encourage participation in hilly events and offer a challenge to regular long distance riders and also to those who do not wish to ride the longest events but who enjoy hard riding. It is popular, not only because of the challenge, but also because of the scenery it has to offer.
To include any calendar or permanent event that is hilly enough. The event scores AAA points based on the amount of climbing, and both AAA points and climbing are shown in the calendar. Be warned though that some hilly events are missing AAA points. Organisers of new or revised events which may qualify for AAA should contact the AAA Man at the event planning stage.
Awards, Rolls of Honour and Trophies
Riders' AAA points are recorded on the AUK website with details of the brevets they have completed, and can be seen on the 'Individual Rides List' page.
An AAA Roll of Honour is published annually in the Handbook and lists riders who have obtained 12 or more AAA points in the current season. Riders are included automatically, there is no need to make a claim.
Two AAA Trophies are awarded annually to the male and female gaining the most AAA points in a season. The results are worked out automatically, there is no need to make a claim.
There are several individual awards:
Bronze, Silver and Gold Grimpeur Medals. Click here for more details.
The Audax Altitude Award, the AAA Triple Award, the AAA 3x3 Award and Roll of Honour. Click here for more details.
The AAA Super Randonneur Award and Roll of Honour. Click here for more details.
