There can't be many knitting designers around
better qualified - Judy's preference for natural fibres is
well-known, both for her knitwear and her hand weaving, she is a
member of the Shokay* Design Circle, a practical supporter of
traditional Shetland wool and knitting, as well as using
bamboo/wooden needles exclusively and always being on the look out
for new eco-friendly ways to dye, knit or finish her
work. However, add to this the fact that she is also a
PhD Biochemist, who lectured for many years in Durham
University's Environmental Sciences Dept, co-authoring a book
on the subject too and the case for Dr
Furlong pretty much makes itself!
She says she is proud to have been invited to be
our first Founder; the feeling's mutual Judy - we're proud you said
yes!
