Feb 29th - 1st - 2nd March National Living History Fayre - Field trip to pick up equipment and make contacts with sword smiths and armourers.

March 1st and 2nd S.W.A.S.H - Details to follow

April 5th  Longbow day workshop - AOBC members only

April 19th St Georges Day Banquet! To England and St George! - AOBC annual banquet open to AOBC members only. St Georges day is the 23rd of course but that’s a Wednesday thus the banquet is on the Saturday night.
Followed by a trip to Wrest Park St Georges weekend event on the following day for anyone who wants to go. Email for more details.

AOBC Quarterstaff workshop - Date T.B.C

May 30th Dovers Hill English Olympick games - Games start at 7-30pm but it’s best to get there 1 hour before hand. A chance to revel in the spectacle of English Country Backswording played by crack cudgel players. The AOBC will be putting a team forward for the Tug of War and some AOBC members will be in the Shin Kicking Tournament. A great opportunity for some research and a good night out to boot!

June 7th to 8th Colchester Medieval Festival and Oyster Fayre - AOBC Backswording tournament. Players will be fighting for the coveted Oyster Fayre Cup. AOBC members can arrive on Friday the 6th from 12 noon to book in and pitch. www.oysterfayre.co.uk

July AOBC Gradings - Date T.B.C

July 12th to 13th - The 25th Tewksbury Medieval festival, The battle of Tewksbury - This is one more for those AOBC members who are also involved in re-enactment. A brilliant weekend event. Email for more information if any AOBC members wish to partake in the battle.

August 24th to 25th Uffington Country Show and AOBC UK finals for 2008 -  The AOBC will be holding their 2008 Backswording Champions tournament at Uffington this year. 8 finalists, champions in their own right will be fighting over the weekend for the coveted Uffington Cup. This year will be the second time English Country Backswording has been played at Uffington for 150 years! Those old gamesters who take part will themselves be part of the rich tradition of country backswording and go down in history. The champion will have their name placed on the cup which will be displayed as a permanent exhibit in the Tom Brown Museum at Uffington and take up their own place in English history.  The 2007 Champion was Steve “The Bulldog” Williams. http://www.whitehorseshow.co.uk/
