A chance to revel in the spectacle of English Country Backswording played by crack cudgel players. The AOBC will be putting a team forward for the Tug of War and some AOBC members will be in the Shin Kicking Tournament. A great opportunity for some research and a good night out to boot! June 7th to 8th Colchester Medieval Festival and Oyster Fayre - AOBC Backswording tournament. Players will be fighting for the coveted Oyster Fayre Cup. August 24th to 25th Uffington Country Show and AOBC UK finals for 2008 - The AOBC will be holding their 2008 Backswording Champions tournament at Uffington this year. 8 finalists, champions in their own right will be fighting over the weekend for the coveted Uffington Cup. This year will be the second time English Country Backswording has been played at Uffington for 150 years! Those old gamesters who take part will themselves be part of the rich tradition of country backswording and go down in history. The champion will have their name placed on the cup which will be displayed as a permanent exhibit in the Tom Brown Museum at Uffington and take up their own place in English history.
