Cotswold English Olimpick Games 2008
Shin Kicking Champion

Steve ‘The Bulldog’ Williams wins a flawless victory!

The Aisle O’var Backswording Clubbe is currently one, if not the only full time Tradtional English Martial Arts Clubs in the UK that specifically train in the art of Shin Kicking. The sport of Shin Kicking itself derives from indigenous English Wrestling styles such as  Devonshire and Norfolk Wrestling or ‘Wrasslin’ as it is traditionally called.

Steve ‘The Bulldog’ Williams from Shefford, Bedfordshire, a long standing member of the AOBC had decided to throw his hat in the ring and enter in for the shin kicking tournament at the Cotswold games after viewing it at the 2007 event. Since then he has been training with his fellow TE-MA students and instructors running up to the 2008 games as well as spending time mentally preparing for the games, going over tactics and techniques and training at home.

On the day his dedication to the task paid off as Steve achieved a flawless victory over each and every competitor that came before him. Not to say that it was an easy task at all. There was a good field of competitors who all fought hard and fast. But at the end of the day there can be only one champion of the hill and this year, deservedly so, it was Steve ‘The Bulldog’ Williams.

Will a flawless victory on the hill ever be achieved again? We will have to see as only time will tell but one thing that can be said is that Steve will be back in 2009 to defend his title.
