Welcome to my brand new website... it still smells of paint and wrappers and not all the packages are open yet, but bear with us as it develops over the next couple of days!!
As children in Ireland, songs were a big part of our upbringing. For every family occasion and just for fun, new songs were learned - my mother was always singing and I had a huge repertoire even before I went to school. So a few years ago when we decided to record a traditional album to compliment my previous cds of contemporary songs, the natural choice was to start with all these early memories.
Not all journeys end up where we intend and that collection of songs has taken me to places I never imagined I would get to - a TV series called Songbirds, new concerts, new friends and a whole new concert set. I still love interpreting other people's songs and I still enjoy writing, but right now I'm enjoying honouring the women who first recorded our folk songs and I'm most enjoying hearing audiences throwing back their heads and singing at the tops of their voices.. So I hope you'll enjoy having a look around my site and finding out more about my journey and maybe we'll meet up in real space one of thes days!
