Match Report
Barley started the game eager to notch up there first win of the season on a mild cloudy afternoon. However it was the usual storey with an early lack of concentration. A ball down the right was driven into the box and the ball was met on the volley to give Bushbury the lead after just 18seconds. It was a good response though from Barley as they looked to redeem the defecate and produced there first opportunity 6minutes in, Cartwright ran clear of the defence but spurned a clear chance over the bar. 3minutes later Barley got there equalizer, some good work from Shaun Porter put in brother Richard Porter who powered into the box and slid the ball neatly passed the oncoming keeper. Barley were on top for most of the game but Bushbury looked dangerous on the break and almost put themselves back in front on 18minutes. Keeper Pickett making a rash decision to come and clear but the Bushbury striker managed to take it past him leaving an open goal, but some heroic defending from Westbury saved the day. It was Barley who went in front S Porter breaking clear and smartly chipping the ball over the keeper on 24minutes. 5minutes later Cartwright took control of a ball from R Porter and lashed the ball from the edge of the area which went under the keepers body, the lead looking ever convincing. Bushbury brought Barley back down to earth and kept the game alive on 31minutes. A similar situation as before a Pickett was beaten but this despite his efforts Westbury was unable to prevent the ball finding the empty net. Bushbury could have gone in all square when a corner was only partially cleared and a good strike was heading straight was the top corner but Pickett made up for his earlier error with a fantastic two handed save. Bushbury 2-3 Barley at half time. The second saw Barley take complete control, R Porter finishing the game off on the hour as his took on the last defender and finished low and with ease into the bottom corner. It could of been a wrought but for some dubious offside decisions and poor Barley finishing, S Porter and Richard Hale missing the pick of the chances. A much better performance on the whole, hopefully a turning point which will see Barley move onwards and upwards in the league.
