Match Report
Barley's first home game of the new campaign saw Bushbury ECC as the vistors to the Dormston Centre. The team only formed last season were one of only two sides to do the double over Barley and today would prove that are somewhat of a bogie team for the club. The game could'nt have got off to a worse start with barely 30seconds on the clock a long ball over the top caught Barley flatfooted and Dwane Turner finished with ease. The game was fairly even as both teams played some nice football in patches but yet neither team could find a killer ball. Then on 17minutes, Wollaston found some space in the midfield and riffled a shot from 30yards to find the top corner in style. 1-1. Just before the half hour Bushbury restored there lead, a long throw into the box was missed by the Bushbury forward and hit right back Westbury in the face the ball fell into the path of the Bushbury No.8 who finished with power to Pickett's near post. Bushbury took the lead into the break. The teams came out for the second half and it was Bushbury who took the early iniative, and It wasn't long before they increased there lead. Bushbury broke free into the box but the initial shot was saved before Turner bagged his second with an easy finish on the rebound. 7minutes later Bushbury wrapped up the game as Pickett made a hash of a ball just outside his box and the Bushbury No.7 took it past him to find the empty net 1-4. Barley played some direct desperate football in the last half hour in an attempt to make something of the game, but lacked real quality, commitment, drive, all over the pitch. Subsitute's Cartwright and Richard Porter combined from a late corner to make it 2-4 with eight minutes to go but it was too little too late as another un-convincing performance leaves Barley with some early problems and real challenges to face to overcome there current poor form.
