Match Report

Some heavy rain in the week leading up to the game meant few matches survived but a late pitch inspection by Referee Roy Biddle deemed the Dormston pitch playable. It was always going to be a scrappy affair and the winner would be whoever could get the lucky break or win the battle. It was a game of few chances, Barley played some nice football throughout the first half despite the conditions and it was Mark Hill who had the eye for goal. Barley got forward down the left before switching the play over to the right for Hill to shoot with the outside of his boot but it was an easy save for the Danesmore keeper. Moments later in the 16th minute Barley got forward again down the left and identical to the previous chance switched the play from left to right but this time Hill's outside of the boot curled the ball sweetly into the top corner 1-0. The second half was very much the same story as the first a hard fort game in the midfield resulting in little or no real chances. Danesmore were given there opportunity 10minutes into the second period when Richard Hale fouled in the penalty area and Danesmore were awarded a penalty. Despite cleaning his muddy boots the Danesmore taker blasted the ball straight down the middle where keeper Sewell was equal to the strike. Not much to report but a hard fought battle and a satisfactory victory.
