Match Report

Tipton Rovers were the visitors for this afternoons friendly at the Dormston Centre. Tipton a feeder team for Tipton Town are new to the Beacon League and were to provide tough opposition for Barley. Tipton started the better of the two sides and forced a good save out of player / manager Stuart Cornaby in the opening minute. 5minutes in and a good run down the right past Blakeway and Michael Cornaby before the ball looped into the far corner of the net 0-1. Tipton remained confident throughout the first half and only flickers of the real Barley came though creating one or two half chances for Richard Porter and Cartwright. Tipton could have easily made it two midway through the half but for a fantastic double save on the line again from Barley's player / manager before Cartwright finally cleared. Eventually 8minutes before the interval Tipton did get there second again coming down the right after Blakeway gave the ball away in a dangerous position before providing a low cross for the Tipton forward to tap home. Half Time 0-2. Barley came out in the second period a better side, Cartwright providing substitute Richard Porter with an opportunity but he could only find the woodwork. 20minutes into the half and another individual error this time Cartwright gave the ball away on the edge of his own box and the drilled shot bobbled past Stuart Cornaby. Barley then pulled one back on 70minutes, good work from Blakeway putting Richard Porter through before he slotted the ball home. Ten minutes from time and a freekick to Tipton floated in and was went by the head of Shaun Porter who could only find his own net. Tipton made in 1-5 with an in swinging corner direct into the goal before Hadden drilled a penalty straight at the keeper three minutes before the end. Final Score 1-5.
