Match Report
Trysull visited The Dormston for the groups opening Brandrick Cup match. Barley only once have played Trysull that was in last seasons Brandrick Cup semi-final where Trysull ran out 6-0 victors. Trysull regarded as one of if not thee best Sunday league sides in the area and so Barley had there work cut out. Barley however were in a rich vain of form themselves and felt no better equiped than now to pull off a shock victory. The dream however was short lived an Trysull went in 0-3 at the break. There first goal a top corner screamer from the edge of the box in the 13th minute. There second a close range bullett header after good wing play in the 16th minute. There third was a fantastic solo effort showing superb skill, control and a finish in the 21st minute. Barley showed promise at times but were out battled and out played by a top side. Barley were handed a lifeline when former Trysull man Freeman got free in the area beating the commited keeper and firing towards an empty net only for the shot to be pushed round the post by a defender who was obviously dismissed. Freeman stepped up put the penalty was poor and easyily saved by the Trysull keeper. The secound half was full of unfortunate incodent. After Trysull made it 0-4 in the 53rd minute, Barley centre half Stephen Bradnick limped off with twisted ankle in the 70th minutes and then in the 71st Barley keeper Liam Sewell dislocted his elbow in freak conditions after dving for the ball. Player / Manager Stuart Cornaby took to gloves and was beaten twice more as Trysull ran on the equal last years scoreline winning 0-6.
