Match Report

Windsor Old Boys visited The Dormston for the first time and Barley hoped that home advantage may give them the edge in what was poised to be a real physical test. The physical test started early and after just 8minutes an aerial challenge between Bradnick and a Windsor forward saw Bradnick a clash of heads and plenty of blood. Windsor were applying the early pressure and after 16minutes a corner from the right caused a scramble in the six yard box before an close range effort gave Windsor the lead. Windsor hit the post a couple on minutes later before keeper Sewell was substituted in the 22nd minute after he could not continue following a collision during Windsor's opening goal. Sub keeper Russell was soon in the thick of the action making a fabulous one on one save to push the ball round his left hand post just before the half hour. It was 0-2 though minutes later, again some good build up play from Windsor as there forward free in the right side of penalty area stroked the ball into Russell's left hand corner. Windsor were in fuming as they found the net in the 34th minute but the goal was ruled out for offside. Barley did show little promise in the 41st minute, Freeman broke down the left before muscling himself into the penalty area and getting his shot away only to be foiled by the inside of the post. Half Time 0-2. Barley came out in the second period knowing they needed to up there game if they wanted something from the match and instantly made a impact. Hickman crossed from the right before Freeman showed a excellent touch and turn before finishing from close range, 46minutes 1-2. The game settled as both teams fought away creating little for the next 20minutes. Barleys final substitute Cartwright tried to make an impact on the game and produced a fine corner in the 64minute but Hickman headed just wide of the Windsor goal. Barley still continued to push and this time Blakeway made the charge into the Windsor penalty area and was flawed by a swinging arm of Windsor's last defender, a penalty was awarded but no action was taken against the Windsor player. Cartwright struggling for form and goals this season stepped up looking for something to grab too in which to turn his season round but it was not to be as the Windsor keeper was equal to the kick saving to his left. It was Cartwright whoever provided for the equalizer another corner from the right was swung in for Westbury to head towards goal, Windsor cleared off the line but only partially away as Barley put the ball back into the danger zone for Freeman to connect with an outstretched leg to level the game up. At 2-2 and with 9minutes remaining you would forgiven in thinking it was a point a piece but neither teams looked happy and both were in it for the win. Windsor looked to then have won it in the 88th minute, a routine long ball that Shaun Porter had dealt with all game was missed due to a blatant push in the back by Windsor's substitute who then ran on with ball before lobbing the ball over Russell's head into the net 2-3. It still was not over, and with virtually the last kick of the game Hale played a through ball to Hickman who lashed to ball against the underside of the bar and into the net to grab a well deserved equalizer.
