Match Report

Barley's final match of the season saw a trip to bottom of the table Wolves Deaf. Barley were confident of victory given Wolves record and it was a target of six goals required for Barley to finish the season with a positive goal difference. Michael Freeman opened the scoring in the first minute, a corner whipped in juggled around in the box before Freeman smashed home from 15yards. All the play was in the Wolves half but took another 20minutes before Barley added a second. Some good play down the right before Green crossed low for Blakeway to finish with a cheeky back heel 0-2. Despite continued pressure from Barley they would unable to add to the score before the break missing a whole host of chances. Barley needed to up there game in the second half to reach there target, it was in fact a bit of luck 10minutes into the second period that got them up an running again. A free kick just past the half way line was whipped goal ward by Hale and with the aid of a defenders head would the back of the net 0-3. Five minutes later and a positive run into the box by Freeman left him certain to score but a blatant push in the back gave the referee no option but to award a penalty. Freeman stepped and converted coolly 0-4. Barley pushed on but struggled to find a fifth until the introduction of Shaun Porter gave the Wolves deaf something extra to think about on set pieces. Shaun Porter, Mark Green added to the score before Freeman wrapped up with his hatrick, Final score 0-7.
