Match Report

Bottom of the table Wolves Deaf visited The Dormston for todays fixture. Barley were expecting victory given theres and the Wolves recent form but things did not go as planned in the early part of the match. 4minutes in and Wolves broke free in the Barley box for the Wolves forward to head the ball over a stranded Russell in the Barley goal 0-1. Barley fought back and equalizer in the 14th minute, Russell with a long punt upfield went un-dealt with by the Wolves defence and Richard Porter latched onto the ball before knocking the ball over another stranded keeper 1-1. The Wolves seemed upbeat from there early start and just a minute later put themselves back in front, good work down the right side produced a cross which again was over keeper Russell's head and finished well at the far post into an empty net 1-2. Russell's inability to stop the goals at one end though did not stop his ability to create goals at the other, 26minutes and Russell's long kick upfield was flicked on by Hickman to put Richard Porter in the clear again and this time his finish was low and curled neatly around the keeper 2-2. Barley now took a grip on the game and when they took the lead for the first time in the 33rd minute there was no looking back. It was a corner from the left swung into the back post by Hale which was met with a bullet header from Shaun Porter 3-2. 37minutes saw Evans flick the ball forward to Richard Porter who slid the Barley to Freemans feet and his close range "blasted" shot gave the keeper no chance 4-2. Five minutes before the break Barley got a fith, agian Evans involved with a long crossfield ball to Blakeway who crossed for Freeman to take one touch and volley home 5-2 a comfortable half time lead. Barley played a patiant passing game throughout the second period notching up two extra goal from Hickman and Evans. Hickman came in the 71st minute after picking the ball up in midfield a good run took him into the box before playing a neat one two with Freeman and knocking the ball in via the back post. To finish things off, Evans (getting a lot of stick for his wavey mop) silenced his critics with his first ever headed goal from close range after a corner from the right. Evans has now cristianed his mop "The Majic Wig", Final score 7-2.
