Match Report
Barley's first competitive home game of the season saw AC Harbourne visit Colton Hills in the Lester Cup. Barley's recent performances showed much promise and the team were in good mood to take on the Division One outfit. Barley started the stronger of the side playing some neat football and looking promising going forward, Harbourne meanwhile struggled to get a grip of the game though there one-man strikeforce looked a handfull attempting to latch onto a number of long balls. Harbourne gathererd confidence as the half went on and would be the happier of the two sides with the half time score despite neither side creating any clear cut chances. 0-0.
In the second period Harbourne came out knowing they needed to up there game, Barley came out knowing that if they repeated there first half display then the game was there for the taking. Harbourne were looking the stronger now and with an hour gone broke into the box down the left and finishing neatly into the bottom corner 0-1. Barley knew it was now going to be tough as Harbourne's game started to gather pace and with 12minutes to go killed off the tie making it 0-2. Barley sacraficed there disciplined shape to give themselves a chance gambling with Shaun Porter into a front three but Harbourne took advantage a netted again in the 81st and 84th minutes. Final Score 0-4.
