This is the
Holme St Pauls
Memorial Inscriptions Page

Holme St Pauls Church at Causewayhead was opened in 1850 to cater for the increasing population of the area including the growing town of Silloth. The new parish was formed within the old parish of Holme St Cuthberts.
The churchyard was taken into use in 1850 and burials started on the South side and then into the North side. The New cemetery was opened across the road in about 1850 and burials in the churchyard were discontinued with the exception of a few family plots.

Another new church, Christchurch, was opened in the town of Silloth itself in about 1873 but as it had no burial ground, burialsfrom there took place at St Pauls until the new cemetery opened.

In 1999, the Causewayhead Womens Institute conducted a survey of the Memorial Inscriptions in the churchyard and they have very kindly let me have a copy which I have adapted to go onto a web page. The main Transcripts are split into two sections, South, which includes the inscriptions in the church itself, and the more recent, North.
To access there two sections and the Index, click on the links below.
