BARRY WOODHAM was born in 1943 and has lived in Swindon all his life. He spent his working life as a design engineer/draughtsman and worked on the nuclear fusion project for thirteen years. Finding himself with nothing to read one lunchtime he began to write the saga of the Gnathe and after many of his colleagues began to read as quickly as he could finish the chapters, he continued on and finished the book.
Having been able to take early retirement, he now has more time to devote to writing than in the past, also spending time fishing and walking his dogs.

Several years after the defeat of the Tyrant, Ender-whann-soo’s, Brood-mother daughters, devise a way to reach out to the people of Earth, six million years into the past. Something brings the ancient agent of death to an abrupt halt, but the three worlds are reduced to scrabbling through the ruins of the old civilization. Far out on the fringes of this galactic arm is a far greater menace then the Kresh destroyer.

The purpose of the Genesis Project was to spread the
race of mankind to the stars by Nano-ships, before the sun expanded into a red
giant. Because of the immense time to travel at sub-light speeds across the interstellar
distances, the ship's artificial intelligences are shut down.
One ship becomes
trapped amongst the comets in orbit around our sun and remains there for over
six million years.
The Nano-ship's random orbit is disturbed and the crewmembers
are activated by the increased energy levels, as they fall towards the sun. They
find the old civilisation long gone and Jupiter is teeming with natural and seeded
life. This world is no longer a gas giant, as the expanding sun tore off most
of the miles deep atmosphere. They land the Nano-ship against a vast cliff, that
is part of a great range of mountains dividing the super-continant from pole to
pole.
On the other side of the mountain range, Jupiter is inhabited by a sentient species known as the Gnathe. These people are a non, tool-using race. They control their world by the manipulative genetic engineering of their own people and the creatures that they find useful, by their third sex. These are the egg-carriers known as Brood-mothers.
Separated by thousands of miles of mountain ranges and ice sheets, the Gnathe are unaware of their new neighbours living on the other side of the continent. When the newly created colony of human beings, decide to interfere in the affairs of the Gnathe, to help one of their members escape a cruel and punishing death, a chain of events is set in motion that will forever change both societies.
