Started learning guitar aged 11 and never stopped learning since.Played bass guitar with Totaly Obscene and White Knuckle Ride(alongside Ray Walmsley of Demon).Played Bass & lead guitar with The Les Close Band travelling the length of the country alongside some of Britains top & well respected Country musicians(it was my dad & Les that pushed me to take the lead vocal on songs).Performed for many years with Hazard.Ian joining added the missing piece to a project that me,Neil & Simon had been working on a few years before & so Breaking Poynt was Born
Lead and Rhythm Guitar - Neil Mckay
I, like Colin, started playing at the age of 11. Formed a band at school which never really graduated to needing a name... actually it had several all of which were instantly forgettable. Early influences included the Beatles and a bit later rock bands such as Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple. In my late teens I played on the club circuit with a pop / rock band called Street Scene then disappeared off to college to be "educated" (mainly in the dark arts of drinking heavily and oversleeping!). Got into jazz and later classical guitar and have taken masterclasses with some of the best players around (in the hope that at least some of it might rub off!). Since about 1999 I have played with a European roots music band named Prego, we play at festivals all over the British Isles and abroad. In 2002 I joined up with Colin, playing bass in Top Country Sound... and now guitar in Breaking Poynt. See you at a gig soon....
Bass Guitar and Backing Vocals - Simon Hall
started playing bass when I was 14, bought my first Bass from Neil’s brother. Initially self taught playing along with Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and various other Rock bands I received some tuition from a local Bass Teacher which opened my ears to Jazz / Fusion and began listening and transcribing various Bass greats Stanley Clarke, Jaco Pastorious and Percy Jones to name a few. After playing in various bands at school got my first paying gig with a local club band at 16, after this group disbanded. I Joined Neil for a while in Street Scene. I then played in various musical projects, Big Wide World, The Italians, The Nick Fletcher Group a Jazz Fusion Trio based in Sheffield, The Angel of Hope, The Human Condition a thrash Metal band based in Nottingham, Precious, Freezer, Stonejammer. I also played fretless on Frank Whites Album and played on the Lisa hall album Is This Real?. More recently I have been playing with the Undecided Jazz Trio, N3 Acoustic Folk Trio and Floydian Slip a Pink Floyd tribute band before being asked by Neil and Col If I would join Breaking Poynt.
