The Order refers to Knights as being protectors and defenders of the rights and privileges of the RAOB, it’s rules, constitution and traditions.
Knights of old used to be the protectors of the kingdom in which they were paid and earned the title of “Sir” through service, loyalty, bravery and chivalry which, with it, came a title of land and a coat of arms. Of course, in those days life was hard and knights weren’t the kindly fluffy people that nowadays we romantically think about in folklore and see on DVD films such as “A Knight’s Tale” and “Robin Hood - Men in Tights!”.
In the Buffs, Lodges consider Primo's for election to 3rd Degree who display the personal qualities expected of a Knight within their Lodge. It is both an honour in which to live the life of a Knight and to cherish the kind wish and pleasure of your Lodge.
