Hello again, here is a little bit more information about myself.  I live in the small and pleasant village of Summerseat which lies at the southern end of the Rossendale Valley in Lancashire.  Once famous for cotton spinning the village is to be found between the towns of Bury and Ramsbottom and is approximately 12 miles north of Manchester, UK.

I started learning to paint in 2003 and since then I have taught myself from an eclectic mix of information sources while avoiding private tuition in an attempt to develop my own distinctive style of painting. There are some early examples of my ink drawings included on this site but I have not done anything similar in recent years. Amongst the watercolourists I admire are Edward Wesson, Cecil Rice and John Yardley.

I commenced my painting shortly after after retiring from a 35 year career as a professional electrical engineer.  During this time I was employed by AEI/GEC Ltd as a Engineer involved in  the design, installation and commissioning of turbine generators on various UK Power Stations.  My initial engineering training involved several periods of time working in the works drawing office and I also studied technical drawing at night school in the days when pen and ink were used to produce engineering drawings. I finished my career in 1998 having worked for the local Electricity Supply Company Norweb, for 29 years in various engineering and management positions.  I now paint, drink Guinness and play dominoes, life is good  :-)
