Originally trained as a theatre technician (Bristol Old Vic) courtesy of the ABTT (Associated Board of Theatre Technicians) I moved to another theatre where the departure of the resident sound engineer prompted a very steep learning curve.

I now work as a freelance sound engineer, primarily on conferences, special projects and installations and also carry out on site maintenance for a variety of clients.

Experience

I have worked for many years on the technical side of the entertainment, conference and trade show industries.

My main source of work now is as a Sound Engineer and as such I work in a variety of capacities usually as designer and/or principal operator for Conferences, Award Ceremonies and Trade Shows.

My initial training was as a theatre lighting technician. Whilst undergoing this I acquired a good knowledge of mains electrics and basic electronics which has been useful over the years. Subsequent to that I went to a theatre which was a regional film theatre and acquired a good knowledge of 35mm projection and sound.

Since then I have been working almost exclusively as a sound engineer, for the last few years mainly on corporate events.

I design, specify & install sound systems to fulfil any temporary or permanent requirement from a large auditorium to a small meeting room.
