Stagecoach Burnley & Pendle Service changes 1997 - 2001

7th July 1997

Colne Town Services 14 & 15 and Barnoldswick Town Services 30 & 31 to be operated by Border Buses.

Burnley to Valley Mills service 98 some journeys to be operated by Border Buses.

September 1997

475 Ramsbottom - Bury operation transferred to Stagecoach Ribble, Bolton.

20th October 1997

Service 105 Clitheroe - Longridge - Chipping to be operated by Lakeland Travel.

26th October 1997

Services 1 & 2 no longer serve Rosegrove during the day Mon. to Sat.

Service 3 now operates between Burnley Wood (Hufling Lane) and Clifton Farm Estate.

Service 4 now operates between Worsthorne and Whitegate via Sycamore Avenue and Rosegrove Lane Ends.

The Ightenhill Circulars services 3 & 4 are withdrawn.

Service 5 to Lower Manor is replaced during the day by service 7 operated from Worsthorne.

Service 6 now extends to Bleak House and Dalton Street.

Service 9 now operates from Rosegrove via Accrington Rd. to Burnley and then re-routed along Colne Road instead of Belvedere Road & Melville Street to Nelson via Hillingdon Rd. & Hibson Rd.

Service 10 Burnley - Blacko re-routed along Colne Road as above.

Service 11 introduced to operate as service 9 but via Waidshouse Road instead of Hibson Road. This service replaces service 78 which is to be operated by Border Buses.

Service 12 replaces service 50 and no longer operates to Whitegate except at peak times.

Service 13 replaces service 703 and re-routed via Rosehill Road. Service 701 to Slaidburn Avenue is withdrawn.

Service 14 replaces routes 704/5 and is re-routed via Stoops Estate to Rosegrove Lane Ends.

Service 17 Burnley to Lomeshaye Industrial Estate morning & evening - no change.

Service 20 operates to Memorial Park, Padiham extended to Philips Works, Simonstone early morning weekdays.

Service 23 to Accrington now operates via Huncoat. This is due to Stagecoach withdrawing the 246 Burnley - Accrington service. Most daytime journeys from Accrington operate to Laneshawbridge.

Service 25 Burnley to Keighley is replaced by X43 Manchester - Keighley extension, operating via the Aire Valley By-pass. Keighley & District will now operate only to Colne via Eastburn & Steeton.

New service 27 Burnley to Clitheroe with some journeys operated via Sabden. Evening journeys terminate at Read. Replaces services 26,27,227, & 237. Service 257 operates on Sundays alternating with service 27.

Service 28 to Barnoldswick. Alternate journeys will be operated as X43 from Manchester and return.

Seasonal service 55 Barnoldswick - Colne - Blackpool/Fleetwood discontinued.

Services 65 & 68 to be operated by Border Buses.

Services 70 & 71 Pendle Witch Hopper will be operated by Border Buses.

Service 98 to be wholly operated by Border Buses.

Service 236 Burnley - Blackburn is to be operated wholly by Rossendale Transport apart from some schoolday services from Waterfoot and one evening tendered service to Blackburn via Rossendale Hospital.

15th June 1998

Service 23 journeys to Laneshawbridge withdrawn and now terminate at Colne Heifer Lane.

The route to Read, evenings and Sundays is revised to operate via A6068, Slade Lane, Whins Lane & Straits Lane.

3rd January 1999

Service 257 Improved evening and Sunday services to Clitheroe via Sabden. Operated by Stagecoach Ribble from Clitheroe.

Mainline services terminating at Read now terminate at Padiham Memorial Park apart from one additional early Sunday morning journey serving Read.

7th June 1999

L.C.C. introduces new route 97 . Operated by Stagecoach Burnley & Pendle it will serve Mansfield Grove, Nelson Town Centre, Haggate & Lane Bottom. It will also serve Morrisons'store when it opens later in the summer.

22nd April 2000

Service 97 will be operated by Border Buses and the route revised to serve Valley Mills.

30th April 2000

Service 5 Burnley to Lower Manor will be operated as a L.C.C. tendered service during the day by DSP Travel.

X43 journeys will no longer serve Barnoldswick, Keighley and the Trafford Centre. Barnoldswick and Keighley will be served by additional journeys on mainline services. The Keighley route will still operate via the Aire Valley by-pass.

25th September 2000

Travel For All will operate the 257 journeys instead of Stagecoach Ribble.

1st April 2001

Some X43 journeys will operate via Edenfield and will be renumbered X44. The terminus will now be Manchester Lever St. Bus Station due to the closure of Chorlton St. Coach Station.
