Changes to Services 2009

These revised services will be introduced on Sunday 29th November 2009.

 

 

Our New Network
New route numbers will be used. These will be single digit (i.e. 1 rather than 101) as this has been found to be more user friendly elsewhere.

Starship 1 - Stoops Estate, Bus Station, Lyndhurst Road, Pike Hill, Todmorden
Starship 1A - Bus Station, Pike Hill, Worsthorne, Brownhill, Bus Station
Starship 1B - Bus Station, Stoops Estate, Summit, Bus Station
Starship 6B - Bus Station, Summit, Stoops Estate, Bus Station

Starship 1 will run every 15 minutes between Stoops and Pike Hill replacing 101, 102
Monday to Friday off peak journeys will extend to Todmorden every 30 minutes (replacing service 92)
Evening and Sunday journeys on routes 101, 121, 122 will be replaced by 1A, 1B, 6B but times won't change

Starship 2 - Worsthorne, Brownhill, Bus Station, Browhead, Hospital, Marsden Cross, Nelson, Higherford
Starship 2 will replace 109, but will run via Brownhill Avenue rather than Brunshaw Avenue
Buses will still run every 30 minutes
No change to evening and Sunday service

Route 3 - Ightenhill, Bus Station, Duke Bar, Hospital, Harle Syke, Nelson, Marsden Park
Route 3 will replace current routes 3 and 74 and will run on Mondays to Fridays only, with a bus every 30 minutes
Route 3 will also replace current Starship routes 111, 112 between Harle Syke and Nelson
Route 3 will provide new cross town links from Ightenhill to the Hospital and from Marsden Hall to Burnley
The Saturday service on routes 3 and 74 which is provided by Tyrer's on behalf of Lancashire County Council, will not change

Starship 4 - Harle Syke, Hospital, Bus Station, Sycamore Avenue, Rose Grove, Accrington Road
Starship 5 - Harle Syke, Hospital, Bus Station, Accrington Road, Rose Grove, Sycamore Avenue

Starship 4 and 5 will replace services 111 and 112
Buses to Rose Grove will now run every 15 minutes
Along with route 3, Harle Syke will be served by 6 buses hour
Buses will continue to run to Nelson Interchange at times when service 3 doesn't run
Starship routes 2, 4 and 5 will combine with route 3 to provide buses every 7 or 8 minutes between Burnley General Hospital and Burnley Bus Station

Starship 6 - Bus Station, Summit, Bleak House
Starship 6 will replace route 106 but with no change to route
Buses will still run every 30 minutes
2 early morning journeys will no longer run, due to low usage

Routes 3, 74, 92, 101, 102, 106, 109, 111, 112, 121, 122 will be replaced by the above network.

Mainline, Witch Way, services 8 and X63 will not change.

How will the changes affect each area...?
Todmorden (Starship 1)
Buses will still run every 30 minutes on Mondays to Fridays during the off-peak periods
Low floor buses will be introduced

Pike Hill & Lyndhurst Road (Starship 1)
Buses will still run every 15 minutes, but now serving the same route rather than alternative directions round Pike Hill

Worsthorne (Starship 2)
Buses will still run every 30 minutes, but at revised times

Brownhill (Starship 2)
Buses will still run every 30 minutes direct to town centre
Daytime journeys will be quicker as the bus will omit Lyndhurst Road

Summit & Bleak House (Starship 6)
No change to times or route, but two early morning buses withdrawn due to low usage

Stoops Estate (Starship 1)
Buses will still run every 15 minutes, but at revised times

Rose Grove (Starship 4 & 5)
Buses will run every 15 minutes, with alternate journeys via Accrington Road or Sycamore Avenue

Ightenhill & Clifton Farm (route 3)
Buses will still run every 30 minutes, with low floor buses introduced on some journeys
A new journey from Burnley to Clifton Farm will be introduced, departing at 1611
There will be new links through the town centre to Sainsbury's, Hospital and Nelson

Browhead (Starship 2)
Buses will still run every 30 minutes, but at revised times

Burnley General Hospital (Starship 2, 4 & 5 and route 3)
Buses will run every 7 or 8 minutes to/from Bus Station for most of the day on weekdays

Harle Syke (Starship 4 & 5 and route 3)
Starship 4 & 5, when combined with route 3, will provide 6 buses an hour to Burnley and 2 buses an hour to Nelson

Kibble Bank & Marsden Cross (Starship 2)
Buses will still run every 30 minutes, but at revised times

Higherford (Starship 2)
Buses will still run every 30 minutes, but at revised times

Marsden Park (route 3)
Buses will still run every 30 minutes during the week, but at revised times
The route will change, with buses now running through to Burnley via the hospital

83  Burnley - Burnley General Hospital (Leaflet 83)

From 2 November 2009 Rossendale Transport Ltd, on behalf of Lancashire County Council, will introduce this new service, which was previously shown as Service 483 from Bury.  Service 483 will now terminate at Burnley Bus Station and through tickets are available.

From 1st September all Northern Blue services were transferred to Burnley & Pendle operation.

92  Burnley - Todmorden (Leaflet 68)

From 1 September 2009 Transdev Burnley & Pendle will withdraw their Saturday service with some amendments to the Monday to Friday timetable.  Alternative services are available throughout the route provided by First.

3/3A  Towneley - Burnley - Ightenhill - Clifton Farm Circular (Leaflet 73)

From 1 September 2009 Transdev Burnley & Pendle will revise the route and timetable.  The Monday to Friday service will be increased to run every half hour on the Burnley to Ightenhill and Clifton Farm Circular, withdrawing the through connection from Burnley to Towneley Hall section.

They will also withdraw the Saturday Ightenhill and Clifton Farm Circular service.  Lancashire County Council will introduce a full replacement Saturday service, as current, to be operated by Tyrer Bus Ltd.  

From 14 September 2009 Transdev Burnley & Pendle will then withdraw all daily journeys between Burnley Bus Station and Towneley Grounds, which was operated on behalf of Burnley Borough Council.   Lancashire County Council's Saturday service, operated by Tyrer Bus Ltd, will still provide a link on Saturdays only.

X63  Burnley - Accrington (Leaflet 74)

From 1 September 2009 Transdev Burnley & Pendle will withdraw their Saturday service with some amendments to the Monday to Friday timetable.  Lancashire County Council will introduce a replacement Saturday service, to be operated by Tyrer Bus Ltd.

8/48  Burnley - Weir - Bacup (Leaflet 78)

From 1 September 2009 Transdev Burnley & Pendle will revise their Monday to Friday timetable.

 

74  Nelson - Marsden Park Circular (Leaflet 82)

From 1 September 2009 Transdev Burnley & Pendle will withdraw their Saturday service with some amendments to the Monday to Friday timetable.  Lancashire County Council will introduce a replacement Saturday service, to be operated by Tyrer Bus Ltd.

10th April 2009 Service Changes

3A  Burnley - Towneley Hall (Leaflet 73)

From 10 April 2009 Transdev Northern Blue in partnership with Burnley Borough Council will introduce this new route on Sundays and Bank Holidays.  Buses also serve Towneley Hall grounds and Riverside car park with departures from Burnley Bus Station at 1200, 1300, 1400, 1500 & 1600.  Buses return from Towneley Hall at 1235, 1335, 1435, 1535 & 1635.

3  Burnley - Ightenhill Circular - Burnley - Towneley Hall (Leaflet 73)

From 14 April 2009 Transdev Northern Blue in partnership with Burnley Borough Council will revise the route and timetable to serve Towneley Hall omitting Plumbe Street and Branch Road.  Service 8 has been revised to provide replacement journeys for Plumbe Street and Branch Road.

8  Burnley - Weir - Bacup (Leaflet 78)

From 14 April 2009 Transdev Northern Blue will revise the route and timetable to serve Burnley Plumbe Street and Branch Road on all journeys in both directions, replacing Service 3.
