No fortress in England boasts a longer history than Dover Castle. Commanding the shortest sea crossing between England and the continent, the site has served as a vital strategic centre since the Iron Age. Today, visitors can enjoy the castle's wealth of history through a range of exciting exhibitions designed to take people back in time. More recently (during the Second World War), the castle tunnels were used in the defence of the country. Following the castle and tunnels visit, we plan to spend a couple of hours perusing the bargains at the Ashford Retail Outlets Centre. Leonardslee is one of Englands most spectacular gardens, famous for rhododendrons, azaleas, and a wonderful natural woodland setting. An opportunity to visit the historical theatre at Smallhythe Place. This
half-timbered house, built in the early 16th century when Smallhythe was a
thriving shipbuilding yard, was the home of the Victorian actress Ellen Terry
from 1899 to 1928 and contains her fascinating theatre collection. The
cottage grounds include her rose garden, orchard, nuttery, a wonderful
display of wild flowers and the Barn Theatre.
Then on to the Vineyards at Tenterden for your inclusive buffet lunch
(dessert optional extra). After lunch there will be tour of the Vineyards
followed by wine tasting. There should be time for some shopping in the
Vineyard shops before we head home. Price including Entrance to Small hythe

An opportunity to see the wonderful gardens of the Royal Horticultural Society at Wisely. To wander by the lake and the ornamental pond, to visit the New Glass House and to wander amongst the flower beds so lovingly maintained by some of the best gardeners in the country.
