Noak Hill Golf Club

Noak Hill Golf Club is situated on Noak Hill Road between Billericay and Basildon and is owned and run by Terry and Linda McDowell and their family. They bought the club in June 2006 when the course was overgrown and needed tender loving care, however two and a half years later the ground has been totally transformed, is now well maintained and a joy to play. Although the course is par 3 do not be fooled into thinking it is nothing more than pitch and putt there are some long and tricky holes. Members of the public can enjoy a game of golf, it is suitable for all abilities, with a pay and play scheme or join the golf club and in addition, enjoy the social events as well. Whilst there is no strict dress code players are asked to dress smartly, no vest tops are allowed. 

In 2008 Terry and Linda obtained planning permission to build a new clubhouse, up market with class but without pomp. The clubhouse, now complete, is certainly up market and has class, being of timber construction with heavy beams and many windows giving attractive views of the course and the green fields. Also the dining area has the warm and welcoming appearance of a medieval banqueting suite which is enhanced by a cosy log burner. All day breakfasts, snacks and lunches are served whilst Sunday carveries will commence on Mothering Sunday and subsequently once a month thereafter; however it will be necessary to book a table for the Sunday carvery. 

The McDowell family has strived to make this venue into a place that serves the community, a place where local schools can take children, on certain days, to play golf and where they can go after school hours to enjoy a sport in a safe environment. It is also a good meeting place for friends and colleagues to enjoy a drink or a meal one does not necessarily have to play golf. So if you want to have a break from everyday chores come and relax for a while in peaceful, tranquil surroundings.  

The clubhouse can be hired for local functions.
