Change lives by Volunteering

Following the success of its first tea party group in Billericay, Contact the Elderly is planning to launch a second local group and would welcome support from volunteers and older people who would like to join.

Contact the Elderly organises tea parties which take place one Sunday afternoon a month for people aged 75 or over who live on their own or in sheltered housing. Local volunteers drive the older guests to and from the small gatherings, so they are ideal for people with reduced mobility. The same group meets each month, so members soon make new friends among the volunteers and other older guests. Volunteers host the tea parties in their homes. These outings are free to attend and are always enjoyable afternoons full of tea, cake and conversation.

People aged 75 or over who would like to come to the tea parties can contact Katy Szita on 0208 530 0494 for more information. Alternatively, if you’re interested in volunteering as a group coordinator, driver or host with the Billericay group, or would like to refer someone who you think may benefit from the tea parties, get in touch with Katy on the number above or email katy.szita@contact-the-elderly.org.uk.
