Reading Rooms involves young people in a new projectThe Reading Rooms have involved young researchers from Buttsbury, Quilters, St Peter,s and St John’s Junior schools to celebrate their 150th anniversary and to commemorate the Great War and its impact on Billericay.
Both projects culminated in exhibitions which were visited by many Billericay residents. Many of them spoke to the exhibitors and personal stories of Billericay were shared with them.
This year the project is to involve the young people in researching and producing designs of a logo and letter heading which will represent the Reading Rooms ‘history and place in our town.
To do this they will be visiting the Rooms to delve into its history for the inspiration for their designs. The closing date is 18th May. The judges will the MD of Frontmedia Studios Ltd and Trustees of the Rooms. There will be a prize for the winning entry and prizes for runners up alongside their contribution to the ongoing history of the town.
I am looking forward to seeing the winning entries and putting them in a future edition. Ed.
