It was great sadness and anger that we learned of the theft of our beautiful statue of the Child in the Park. The statue was created with careful thought and skill and has delighted children and adults since 2001. We are determined that we will once again create something special for the plinth and are already starting to think about what this might be, although it will take quite some time to commission and create. We shall, of course, ensure that it is as theft-proof as possible. If you would like to donate towards this appeal we have set up a crowd-funding page - please go online at:

or by cheque to: Secretary, Lake Meadows, c/o 36 Smythe Road, Billericay, CM11 1SE

Due to a timetable clash with another local family event we are moving our Great Lake Race to Sunday 14th May at 2pm, so please put this new date in your diary. You now have more time to create your special family boats! Details and entry forms are on our website. This also presents a fine opportunity to take photographs that can be entered into our ongoing Photographic Competition.
As part of a project to improve the boathouse end of the lake, extensive de-silting has recently taken place. We plan to create a wildlife friendly area and in a few months, once the silt has dried out and the banks have re-established, we will be planting a new reed bed. We will be very grateful for any help with the planting and this will be a marvellous opportunity to become involved with this very dynamic project.
We have lots of opportunities for you to help the Friends, whether you enjoy gardening, can help with jobs in the park, or perhaps manning our Information Centre or sharing your expertise with one of our small project groups.

As always you can find out details of all our activities on our website:www.lakemeadows.org.uk or by joining as a member of the Friends Tel: 07843 860135 (please leave a message)
