Christmas Cheer
The Cantabile Singers invite you to their Christmas Concert entitled “Christmas Cheer” on Saturday 6 December at 8pm in the Mayflower Hall, Chapel Street, Billericay. Tickets cost £5, which includes refreshments, can be obtained from members of the choir, on the door, or by ringing 01277 623140.

A Christmas Concert with a Difference
The Choir for all Seasons presents “Ring Out, Wild Bells” on Sunday 7 December at 4pm in the Mayflower Hall, Chapel Street, Billericay. As usual the concert will consist of a mixture of familiar and fresh music to delight you. Every item in the programme celebrates the tradition of bellringing, remembering the bellringers themselves too, especially in Essex composer Clive Smith’s enchanting Bell Carol for ladies voices. Guest performers will be the South Woodham Ferrers Handbell Team who, aside from their own items will also be playing a part with the choir in a French Bell Carol and in the final piece to celebrate the end of the year “Ring Out the Old, Ring in the New”.
Tim Rhys-Morgan will also be playing two piano solos, one by Claude Debussy (La Cathedral Engloutie – The Submerged Cathedral) and the other by Franz Liszt (The Bells of Rome) to enhance further an already exciting concert. The Belvedere Music Bar
Every Tuesday at The Belvedere in Harding Elms Road, Crays Hill, Billericay, Professional Musicians perform for your entertainment. It could be a quartet or larger, very often with a singer, or a big 18 piece band with singers. The musical standard is very high and occasionally a nationally known artiste will perform. The event is run by musicians, one being a local resident, Mervyn Wright and Lyle and Kim Jenkins. Why not leave the television behind and come and hear some live entertainment on Tuesdays.
It is a well appointed suite and the music is not “way out” stuff that nobody understands.
Tuesday December 9th from 8.00 p.m. till 12.00 midnight, is party night before the Christmas break with an 18 piece Big Band and a quintet plus five singers. Tickets are available at £10 per head on this occasion.

Going to the Movies
On Monday 14 December at 8pm in The Fold, Laindon Road, Billericay Mr Derek Threadgall will give a talk to members of The Billericay Archaeological & Historical Society entitled ”Fun at the Flicks”. A trip down memory lane – going to the cinema in the 1940s,50s, and 60s including the infamous Saturday morning pictures.

 

Spirit of Christmas
The Howard Wallace Chorale will present a Christmas concert entitled Christmas Spirit – a slection of Christmas choral music, old and new for both choir and audience. Thie will take place on Sunday 14 December at 2.30pm in Bishops Hill Education Centre, Rayleigh Road, Hutton. Tickets are priced at £8 (£2.50 for 14 years old and under), includes seasonal refreshments, obtainable from Mrs E. Williams 01708 767961.

A Relaxing Evening
The Christmas meeting of the Billericay Flower Arranging Group will take place on Wednesday 10 December at 8pm in the W.I. Hall, St Edith’s Lane, Billericay, when Barbara Boswell will demonstrate “A Traditional Christmas”. Visitors are welcome to share this lovely relaxing evening. Party Time
Members of the Billericay Horticultural Society will enjoy a “Christmas Party” on Monday December 15 at 8pm in the Day Centre, Chantry Way, Billericay.

Sea Shanties
“History Through Sea Shanties” is the title of a talk to be presented by Keith Lovell to members of the Billericay Society on Wednesday December 17 at 8pm in the Day Centre, Chantry Way, Billericay.

Billericay Air Cadets
The Cadets present the Howard Wallace Chorale, Director of Music – Tim Rhys-Morgan in “A Christmas Concert” on Saturday 13 December at 7.30pm in the Emmanuel Church, Laindon Road, Billericay. Tickets Cost £8 (includes a glass of wine) and can be obtained from the Storyteller Bookshop, High Street, Billericay, or ring 01277 623013.

Opera Uno
A group of six local singers and their accompanist, Martyn Heald, are returning to St Mary Magdalene Church to entertain you with an evening of popular opera and festive songs. The concert will take place at 7.30pm on Saturday 13 December with refreshments available during the interval. Tickets priced at £7 are available from Presence, 48 High Street or phone Sarah on 01277 622142.

Stomping at the Fold
The Neville Dickie Trio will be spreading rhythm around on Saturday 13 December at 4pm and 8pm in the Fold, Laindon Road, Billericay. Another opportunity to hear Neville Dickie on piano with Norman Davey on drums and clarinettists Goff Dubber joining them for the afternoon session and Dave Shepherd taking over in the evening. Tickets cost £11.50 each performance or £21 for both shows.

Billericay Women’s Institute.
Party time for members of the Institute on Wednesday 17 at 2pm in the W.I. Hall, St Edith’s Lane, Billericay when they hold their Christmas party.

All Dressed Up
Doreen Hopcraft will give a costumed presentation entitled “A Visit from Mistress Percy of Ingatestone Hall” to the Billericay Archaeological & Historical Society on Monday 8 December at 8pm in The Fold, Laindon Road, Billericay.

Christmas Festivities
The Billericay Ceramic Circle will be celebrating Christmas with a party on Monday 8 December at 7.30pm in the Emmanuel Church Hall, Laindon Road, Billericay

Carol Service
The Friends of St. Mary Magdalen are holding their annual Candle light Christmas Carol Service on Wednesday 17th December in St. Mary Magdalen Church at 7:00p.m.  It will be followed by the customary mulled wine and mince pies. A perfect way to start the Christmas Season and everyone is very welcome.

Relaxation Techniques

Quiz Time
The Billericay Twinning Association will be holding its sixth Grand Fun Quiz on Saturday 10 January 2009 from 7.30pm to 10.30pm in the Canon Roche Hall. Doors open at 7pm. Tickets are £5. Nibbles will be supplied. Bring your own drinks and glasses. Come with friends and make up a table of 6-8 people or we can put you with a group. Youth Charity Day
Billericay Methodist Church, Western Road invites you to participate in their first ever youth charity day to be held in their premises (located behind the High Street in Billericay.) on Saturday December 13th between 10am & 4pm.
Several locally based youth and child charities and others have been invited to bring a stall with appropriate products to sell. There will be an opportunity to make a short presentation but the church will need to know before the event. There is no charge or costs associated with attending and participating but donations, to help cover the costs incurred by the church will be gratefully received.
