Open Meeting
Norsey Wood Society will be holding an Open Meeting on January 30th 2012 at the Day Centre, Chantry Way. Following a short AGM, starting at 7.45 pm. Neil Sumner, Chairman of Mill Meadows Society, will give an illustrated talk on the need for Living Landscapes. All are welcome.

Christmas Celebrations
Ingatestone Choral Society wish you a Happy Christmas with: “Christmas Present and Past” in seasonal words and music at the Ingatestone Parish Church on Saturday 17th December 2011 at 7.30.pm. Good Grub
Charity Lunch
at the Billericay Methodist Church, Western Road on Saturday 10th December from 12.30pm to  2.00pm. A snack lunch and drink for £3.50. The proceeds will go to the Remus Memorial Horse Sanctuary and Animal Rescue Centre, Ingatestone. The centre provides lifetime help and care for horses, donkeys, cows, goats, sheep and pigs who are victims of physical and mental abuse. No need to book.

My apologies. I inadvertently stated that the Christmas Concert to be held on Sunday 11 December would commence at 7.30pm, when the concert starts at 2.30pm, the usual time. I regret any inconvenience I may have caused.

Billericay Choral Society Christmas Concert
This year’s Christmas Concert will take place on Friday 16th December at 7.45pm at the United Reform Church. There will be a selection of your favourite Carols and some festive songs. Feel free to join in or just enjoy the fun. On Monday 12 December at 8.00pm in The Fold, Laindon Road, Billericay Mrs Ann Hardy will give a talk entitled “All Aboard for Santa's Grotto”  an affectionate collection of Christmas, Past and Present

Billericay Society
Doreen Potter will provide Poems and Music on Wednesday 21 December in the Day Centre, Chantry Way, Billericay. There will also be a Fish & Chip Supper commencing at 7.30pm. Please phone to book prior to the evening so that adequate arrangements maybe made for catering.


Belvedere Jazz and Music Club
Enjoy good jazz every Wednesday evening at The Belvedere, Harding Elms Lane, Billericay from 8.00pm to 10.30pm. Doors open 7.30pm.

Wednesday 7 December San Edwards Trio with Jo Fooks. Jo on tenor sax Sam Edwards – piano, Andy Staples – double bass, Martin “Magic” Johnson – drums. In 1992 Jo won Young Scottish Jazz Musician of the Year and has toured with the Humphrey Band, Acker Bilk and played alongside Elkie Brooks, Scott Hamilton and Tina May. Her mallow tone is compared to Stan Getz and Zoot Simms. Smooth standards with swing.
 Wednesday 14 December is Christmas Party Night. The Mervyn Wright 20 piece All Star Band featuring Roy Wilcox (Ted Heath), Ray Wordsworth (Glenn Miller UK), and Bruce Adams (Jeff Hooper Swing Band) along with Paul Wood, Mark and Harry Stratford. Special Guests – The Hummingbirds, 1939/40s Andrew Sisters tribute group. Tickets £15 in advance, £17.50 0n the door.
Wednesday 4 January Dave Browning Quintet with Dave – piano, Mike Barry – trumpet, Tim Huskisson – clarinet/sax, Alan Clarke – drums, Eddie Johnson – double bass. Mainstream swing numbers including some Fats Waller stride piano numbers.
Wednesday 11 January Janet Seidel – Australia's First Lady of Jazz UK Tour – with Janet Seidel – vocals/piano, Chuck Morgan – guitar, David Seidel – double bass. Janet Seidel enjoys a rare and international reputation with 17 CDs released in Australia and several other countries and plays tribut to Doris Day, Blossom Dearie with an occasional nod to Julie London.

10:00-16:00 Introduction to Hedgerow Basket Making
Introduction to Hedgerow Basket Making The course will start with a walk on Hanningfield Reservoir Nature Reserve gathering hedgerow materials such as ivy, bramble, hazel and willow. You will see example baskets and be shown a range of techniques such as weaving to create your hedgerow basket. Please bring along a pair of thick gardening gloves and a pair of secateurs.
