PROBUS CLUB of BILLERICAY and DISTRICT – A club for the retired active and not so active men of Billericay.  Meetings are held on the last Thursday of the month at lunch time in the Hutton Banqueting Hall when members have the opportunity to have a friendly “natter” over lunch and enjoy friendly companionship. BILLERICAY CERAMIC CIRCLE meets in the Day Centre at 7.30pm on the second Monday of each month. Annual membership costs £18 per person and provides: free entry to all meetings, free access to the Circle’s extensive library on ceramic art and history and low cost trips to selected antique fairs and ceramic exhibitions. Thursday 14 February
from 10am to 12pm noon. CHILDREN’S CRAFT WORKSHOP. Children from the age of 7 to 11 have the opportunity to join in the fun, trying their hands at a variety of fascinating crafts, Tickets £6. 

Friday 15 February at 2.30pm. “ELLIOTT’S BIRTHDAY SURPRISE” What will the mischievous dog, Elliott, get up to on his birthday? Elliott has become a firm favourite with young children (2 to 5 years) who love the acting, puppets and songs performed by Bangers and Mash, one of the best loved children’s theatre companies we have found. Tickets children £5, adults £6.

Saturday 16 February at 7.30pm. “COOL BRITANNIA” Time of our Lives Music Theatre presents “Cool Britannia” a light hearted look at British life, culture, and eccentricities. A hilarious mix of music, dance and comedy. This will appeal to anyone craving a dose of nostalgic uplift and a chance to laugh at some of the things we did in the past that seemed perfectly normal at the time! Be prepared for a superb evening’s entertainment. Everyone will go home with a smile on their face. Tickets £8.50.

Saturday 23 February at 7.30pm. “Classics at the Fold”  The Erato Piano Trio – John Paul Ekins (piano), Ilya Movchan (violin) and Julia Morneweg (cello). Formed at the RCM in 2005 this trio is rapidly establishing a reputation as an exciting young ensemble, praised for their natural musicianship as well as their stylistic versatility. Tickets £8.

Saturday 8 March at 7.30pm. “Opera Uno”. Five local singers and pianist Martyn Heald return to The Fold following successful and sold out performances at several Essex venues during 2007. Attired in period costume they will entertain you with arias, duets and ensembles from many of the best loved operas of the past 250 years. Highlights form The Magic Flute, Carmen, Merrie England and The Gondoliers are among the many musical treats in store. This will prove to be a truly delightful evening. Tickets £7.50.

  

BILLERICAY TWINNING ASSOCIATION QUIZ

The Billericay Twinning Association will be holding its fourth Grand Fund-raising Quiz on Saturday February 9th 2008 from 7.30pm to 10.30pm in the Canon Roche Hall. Come with your friends and make up a table of 6-8, or we can put you on a table. Tickets are £5.00. Nibbles will be supplied. Bring your own drinks and glasses. Contact David Clark. BILLERICAY CHORAL SOCIETY
On Saturday 1st March, Billericay Choral Society will be joining with the Eastwood Chorale to sing Handel's Messiah. Ian Walker is Music Director for both choirs and will be conducting. The performance will take place at Emmanuel Church and begin at 7.45pm. Tickets are priced at £8 and £7 concessions and are available from members of the choir, Storyteller Bookshop or 'phone Patricia on 01277 653338.
