Keep Billericay a Fairtrade Town
Our Fairtrade Town status must be renewed after 1 year; Billericay District Residents’ Association sposored a competition to design a Faitrade bag.
There were lots of entries – many had some interesting ideas and all the entries will be on display in St Mary Magdalen Church during Fairtrade Fortnight 23rd February-9th March. Thanks to all who entered and congratulations to the winners whose prizes will be presented on Saturday 7 March in St Mary Magdalen at 11am. A Fairtrade Morning will also be held in the church on the same day from 10am to 12.30pm. Helping us to judge the entries were Cllr Peter Bowditch, Chairman of Billericay Town Council and John Buchanan, Chairman of Billericay District Residents’ Association.
The winners are

Lisa Liegeois from St Peter’s Catholic School – age 5-11

Laura Beesley from Billericay School – age 12-18

Mrs Ann Newton in the adult category
MAKE A BILLERICAY FAIRTRADE TOTE BAG
There is also competition to design and make a Fairtrade bag. No age categories and closing date 15 February 2009. All entries will be on display in St Mary Magdalen on the morning of Saturday 7 March and the winner’s bag will be filled with Fairtrade products. All bags will be returned.
