Coach Trips

Please note that all payments should be made as soon as possible and sent to the person named on the trip advertisement. Cheques should be made payable to BDRA and the trip title shown on the back of the cheque. Departure points for all trips: GG - Gooseberry Green, bus stop at roundabout, OA – Orchard Avenue, approaching Stock Road, LR – Laindon Road, bus stop between Sun Corner and the fire station, SG – South Green, bus stop to Wickford, opposite the retirement apartments.
Please note – When a trip is confirmed the fare must be paid as soon as possible. If concession prices are quoted (ie seniors, children) these should be requested at the time of booking or the full price will apply. In the event that you need to cancel all efforts will be made to resell your seats, however if we are unable to resell your seats you are liable for payment.



WEDNESDAY 3RD AUGUST 2016 – HAMPSTEAD, A LONDON VILLAGE, MORNING COFFEE, LUNCH AND KENWOOD HOUSE
London's richness and variety results from its growth as a tapestry of villages, each with its own character and history. Once a place of highwaymen, today Hampstead is select, opulent and full of stories. We meet our guide at a village pub in the centre of Hampstead at 10.30am for morning coffee and biscuits. Then we take a gentle stroll through the lanes of old Hampstead Today the village of Hampstead has more millionaires within its boundaries than any other area of the United Kingdom. It's a pleasant and easy walk that brings us back to the pub for a tasty roast of the day lunch. After lunch we'll take the scenic route to Kenwood via the Hampstead Garden Suburb.
Kenwood is a superb refurbished country house, gifted to the nation by the Guinness family, remodelled in the 18th century by Robert Adam. We will have a guided tour of the house, free time to explore and there's an attractive cafe where we can buy refreshments before heading home.
Cost: including coach, morning coffee, lunch and entrance to Kenwood 38.00.
Drinks and desserts are available at lunch for an extra charge.

SATURDAY 20TH AUGUST  – DAY TRIP TO EASTBOURNE AND CREAM TEA AT THE CUMBERLAND HOTEL
Join us for a day trip to Eastbourne where you can explore Eastbourne at your leisure. Places of interest include the Eastbourne Redoubt Fortress and Military Museum, situated next door is The Pavilion tea room, which is a stylish cafe hosting a free  exhibition,” Making Tracks” ,Eastbourne's Bronze age mystery. Witness the transformation of the Pier following the fire in 2014 and enjoy refreshments and views  in the cafe at the end of the Pier.
Another place of interest is the “How We Lived Then” museum with gift shop. The museum has over 100,000 exhibits, laid out on the four floors of old shops and room settings. Visit the grocer's shop, see the scullery maid cleaning the stove with black lead in the Edwardian kitchen and much more. Before our journey home we have booked The Cumberland Hotel to enjoy their Sussex Cream Tea.

FRIDAY 9TH SEPTEMBER  -  IPSWICH & RIVER ORWELL CRUISE WITH AFTERNOON TEA

In the morning you will have free time in Ipswich to visit the museum or just wander round the shops. After lunch we make our way to the Orwell Quay and board  the Orwell Lady for a three and a half hour cruise. The cruise takes us under the Orwell Bridge and down river to Pin Mill taking in the majestic sights of Freston tower and the beautiful surrounding Suffolk countryside. We continue down river to Harwich Harbour including the opportunity to see from the water (weather permitting) the UK's largest container port at Felixstowe and then we return to Ipswich.
 During the cruise we will have an afternoon tea of a variety of sandwiches, scones with jam and clotted cream and cakes, pastries and tea.
 There is a bar serving drinks and there is cover should the weather be inclement.

SUNDAY 2ND OCTOBER 2016 – COLUMBIA ROAD FLOWER MARKET – OLD SPITALFIELDS -  BUCKINGHAM PALACE TOUR


 
Columbia Road flower market is a street market in East London, which overflows with beautiful flowers,  bulbs, herbs, shrubs and bedding plants .By the market you'll find independent galleries & shops selling pottery, perfume & the like in the Victorian shops, many of which are only open at weekends.
We travel on to Old Spitalfields Market, a covered market where Art & Craft meets Fashion & Food.There is a wide range of food outlets to enjoy lunch.
After lunch we make our way to Buckingham Palace for our 2.30pm tour of the nineteen magnificent State rooms
 Our ticket includes entry to explore dazzling dresses & magnificent hats in a unique exhibition, which includes the Queen’s Wedding & Coronation dresses, displayed together for the first time to mark Her Majesty's 90th birthday.
 If you get your entry ticket stamped on leaving the palace you can return free within the next 12 months.

SATURDAY 10TH DECEMBER  THURSFORD CHRISTMAS SPECTACULAR


Experience the magic of a Thursford Christmas show with a cast of 130 professional singers, dancers and musicians.
The three hour performance delivers an extravaganza of nonstop singing, dancing, humour and variety that adds up to the magical sights and sounds of Christmas. We stop at Swaffham for lunch before visiting Thursford for the afternoon show.
