Cater Museum

The Cater Museum is proud of its new display.  The leaded window of Sir Perceval was donated by a member of the Friends of the Cater Museum, Mrs. Barbara Birdsall.

In honour of Lord Perceval Perry of Stock Harvard, the window was mounted on the second floor of the Museum this month.

Lord Perry was born in Bristol in 1878, spent his childhood in Birmingham and then was employed by a law firm.  He entered the automotive field and was instrumental in establishing the Ford car in Britain. Married to Catherine Meals of Hull, they resided in Lilystone Hall, Stock.

Following his CBE in 1917 and KBE in 1918, he was raised to the peerage in 1938 and the window commemorated this event.

Of international standing, Lord Perry was also Chairman of the Ford Motor Company in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Holland, Italy, Spain and Sweden.

The Perrys' adopted daughter, Molly, was president of the Perry Foundation for several years, until her death in 1984.
