Lions Club of Billericay
The Lions Club of Billericay is planning to bring to the Town a major Flower Parade in June this year. Garden Centres and Horticultural Clubs from around the area are being invited to partake by entering a float into this, the first Parade through the High Street for 20 years. Other organisations and members of the public are also encouraged to enter a display. All that is needed is a means of transporting a Flower Display through the High Street; this can be a wheelbarrow, pram or a flat back truck.
The Parade will provide a fitting finale to the town’s “Billericay in Bloom” month organised by the Town Council and will take place on Saturday 28 June, when all entries will parade their floats through Billericay High Street, culminating in a sale of all displayed flowers on Sun Corner. There will be no entry charge. There will be a street collection on the day and all proceeds will be given to St Luke’s Hospice and Little Havens Children’s Hospice.
Letters are being sent to all local gardening centres and horticultural clubs inviting them to take part and make this a spectacular occasion for the town. Already there is much interest from local groups such as Alton Gardens, BHN and other centres but the success of the event will be determined by the number of displays entered. Any group requiring more information should contact Billericay Lions on 0845 833 9849 oe e-mail alan@billericaylions.com
