Beginners Reflexology Course.
Starting April 15th
a new Tuesday afternoon Beginners Reflexology Course starts at Hannakins Farm, Rosebay Avenue from 12.30 – 2.30pm for 12 weeks.  It is a fun course which enables students to give a basic treatment to friends and family.  All ages post-16 and both sexes welcome.  £8 per week.  For more information call Julie Munnings on 01277 652073.

 

Arthritis Care
Meetings of the Billericay Branch take place monthly on the second Friday in The Day Centre, Chantry Way  at 7.30pm for 8pm. On Friday 14 March the speaker will be displaying and talking about her collection of hat pins.

 

The Billericay Arts Association
Saturday 8 March at 7.30pm
. Five local singers and pianist Martyn Heald return to The Fold following successful performances at several Essex venues during 2007. Attired in period costume they will entertain you with arias, duets and ensembles from many of the best-loved operas of the past 250 years. This will prove to be a truly delightful evening. Tickets £7.50.

“Let’s Face the Music” – the genius of Irvin Berlin & Fred Astaire. Tony Jacobs with Jim Barry at the piano always welcome at The Fold. Tony & Jim return with their sophisticated mix of song, music and wit. Tickets Matinee £8, Evening £9.

at 7.30pm in The Day Centre, Chantry Way. Mr Charles Dawson will give a talk entitled “Worcester of the Regency Period”.

 

Billericay Women’s Institute.
The W.I. meets the first and third Wednesday of each month in the W. I. Hall, St Edith’s Lane at 2pm.

Mrs. Janet Golden will give a talk entitled “Microwave Cookery”
Wednesday March 9
Mr. Paul Clancy will give a talk entitled “Birthday Party – The Art of Magic”.

  

Billericay Archaeological & Historical Society
On Monday March 10 at 8pm in The Fold Audrey Gillett and Meryl Catty give a dramatic presentation, eavesdropping on the Enumerator as he interviews households for the 1851 census. The title is”An Enumerator’s Tale”. For further details please ring Doreen on 01277

The Howard Wallace Chorale
Saturday March 15
at 7.30pm in Bishops Hill Adult Education College. “From Bach to the Beatles” Tickets £8 includes refreshments, £2.50 for 14 years and under. Box Office: Mrs. E. Williams - Tel 01708 76796.

The programme will commence with Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring and ends with a wonderful arrangement of Beatle’s music ON Love by Lennon & McCartney. It will also include Faure’s Cantique de Jean Racine (which will be sung in French), some spirituals, sacred music and a new arrangement for the chorale by Howard Wallace of The Sound of Music. A Full and varied concert. The same concert entitled Music at Highlands will be performed on Saturday April 5 at Highlands Methodist Church, Leigh on sea commencing at 7.30pm

Billericay Art Club
The Billericay art Club will be holding an exhibition of their work in the Blue Room at Hylands House, Chelmsford from March1 until March 29. Hylands House is open to then public every Sunday and Monday from 11am to 4pm. This is a good opportunity to support your local art group and appreciate the work that has been carried out to restore Hylands House.

  

Billericay Horticultural Society.
The Society meets in the Day Centre, Chantry Way at 8pm. Visitors are welcome but fro the June evening visit and the Christmas Party it is members only. Membership costs – Single £5, Couples £8. For further information please ring 01277 624084

The Billericay Society
Society meetings are held in the Day Centre, Chantry Way at 8pm on the third Wednesday of the month.
Wednesday March 19
 at 7.25pm Annual General Meeting. At 8pm Dorothy & Graham Manley will give an illustrated talk entitled “From a Fragrant Harbour”.

 

Billericay United Reform Church
The church is holding a Charities Tables Sale on Saturday March 29 from 9.30am to 12 noon at the Mayflower Hall, Chapel Street. Come along and enjoy yourselves. There will be items for sale: cakes, jam, handicraft, toiletries, jewelry, books, bric a brac and greeting cards to raise money for local and national charities. Refreshments will be available. Everyone is welcome.

  

Little Burstead W.I. holds its meetings in the Little Burstead Village Hall at 2pm on the second Thursday of the month. All visitors are welcome.

 

Norsey Wood Society
The Society is holding an open meeting in the Day Centre, Chantry Way on Monday March 31 commencing at 7.45pm. Geoff Wood, Mill Support Officer for Essex County Council will give a talk on Windmills, particularly those in Essex. All are welcome. For more details please ring 01277 653852.

Harmony Brass Band Concert, February 9.          Mayflower High School
An evening of music by one of the best, if not the best, Brass Ensemble in the South East was enjoyed by 200 people to help raise funds for the British Heart Foundation. The organizers wish to thank all the people who attended the event which raised £717.79 for which they are most grateful.
