Learn the remarkable story of how Bletchley Park was chosen as a war time location from the arrival of “Captain Ridley's” shooting party in 1938, to the secrets of cracking the Nazi Enigma cipher.
In 1939 with the threat of war looming, a small team of scholars turned code breakers arrived at Bletchley Park in Buckinghamshire, their mission was not only to crack Hitler's “Unbreakable” Cipher Machine, but also a large number of lower-level German systems as well as those for Hitler’s allies.
Step back in time at Bletchley Park and enjoy highly atmospheric soundscapes playing snatches of conversations, music, laughter and even a hint of romance, as well as the noises of bicycle bells and steam trains to conjure up how it would have sounded during WW2.
There is much to explore, experience and enjoy at Bletchley. Our admission fee allows complimentary use of the newly launched multi media guide and an optional one hour outdoor walking guided tour, with one of the volunteer tour guides, subject to availability.
