As tentative green
shoots appear around the park it feels like the right time to finalise
all the events and projects we at FoLM have planned. Dates for your
diaries: May 1st Great Lake Race and July 8th Jazz
in the Park.
It is also a good time to visit other public open spaces to see if we can gain inspiration for ideas that we haven’t thought of, as there is never room for complacency. We are always happy to gain new members and of course any suggestions that they may have that will help us to enhance people’s experience at Lake Meadows.
Work on the very clogged up area of the lake, near the boathouse, has begun and we hope that visitors to the park will notice the difference over the coming weeks. We hope to create a much more inviting wildlife area in this section, so keep an eye open for changes.
Our Working Party for March will take place on Saturday 18th from 9.30am. We would love as many members as possible to join us for the annual spring clean of the park. Bring your rubber gloves and a bucket!
For those of you who would like to know more about the history of Lake Meadows, we will shortly have a book available on this very subject. The story of how the land changed from farmland to a park over the centuries will, we hope, interest you. Details coming soon.
Don’t forget our photographic competition is in full swing. All the details of how to enter and what prizes you could win are on our website: www.lakemeadows.org.uk or ring 07843 860135
