Buttsbury Social Club

BUTTSBURY SOCIAL CLUB meets every Thursday afternoon at the Day Centre, Chantry Way, Billericay between 1.45 and 3.30pm.
A variety of entertainment each week:- Sing-A-Long, Dancing, Singing, Bingo, Speakers and Outings. Cost only £3 per month. Age ranges from 50 to 95 years. Please come along – meet old friends and make new ones.

Billericay Archaeological & Historical Society

MONDAY 14 MAY at 8pm in the Fold, Laindon Road. Mrs Sue Sincock will give a talk entitled “Gardens in the City” to members of The Billericay Archaeological & Historical Society.

 Photofold Camera Club

TUESDAY 15 MAY at 8pm in the Fold. PHOTOFOLD CAMERA CLUB. Ron Tear will present “Photo Eye 3” – British Landscapes.

WEDNESDAY 16 MAY at 8pm in the Day Centre, Chantry Way. Andrea Hatfield will give a talk entitled “Buds & Baskets” to members of the Billericay Society

THURSDAY 17 MAY at 8pm in the Fold, Laindon Road. BILLERICAY & DISTRICT PHILATELIC SOCIETY. Richard Everett will present a display of stamps “Great Britain line engraved stamps 1840-1880.

 BILLERICAY BOWLING CLUB

SATURDAY 19 MAY from 11am to 5pm “OPEN DAYBILLERICAY BOWLING CLUB. Come along to Lake Meadows and try your hand at bowling. Please bring a pair of flat-soled shoes/trainers. Refreshments provided. For further information please ring Rex Hobbs on 01277 632018.

 BILLERICAY LIONS LADIES

SATURDAY 19 MAY from 9am to 12 noon in the Reading Rooms, High Street. BILLERICAY LIONS LADIES are holding a Mini Craft Fayre, plus their own charity stall. Tea/coffee and cake will be served. Free entry. Profits to Little Haven Hospice.

SATURDAY 19 MAY at the Buttsbury Junior School – “PINK PAMPER DAY”. An afternoon of girly indulgence for mums, daughters and grandmas, too! Over 25 stands dedicated to top to toe pampering, including mini style makeovers courtesy of Secrets Hair & Beauty, fabulous mini manicures and pedicures as well as Indian head massage, holistic massage and reflexology. MONDAY 21 MAY at 8pm in the Day Centre, Chantry Way. BILLERICAY HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY. Tim Carter from “Long House Plants” will be giving a talk to members.

 South Green Memorial Hall

THURSDAY 24 MAY at 8pm in the South Green Memorial Hall – the Management Committee is holding its Annual General Meeting. The hall belongs to everyone in South Green as it was built as a lasting memorial to those who died during the Second World War. Everyone in the area is invited to attend the meeting, so if you are a member of a group such as the W.I., the Thursday Club for senior citizens, the dancing lessons, Karate, Judo, Yoga, 0-3 Club or the Guides, Brownies or the Preschool or whether you just use the hall to vote at the elections come and support the hard working group of volunteers who provide those facilities.

 Arthritis Care

SATURDAY 26 MAY from 9am till 12pm noon in The Reading Rooms, High Street the Billericay branch of Arthritis Care is holding its annual Spring Fayre with a variety of stalls, raffle and refreshments. Please call in and support this local group and find out what the organisation has to offer.

 SATURDAY 12 MAY at 7.30pm. QuickSilver presents  “MAKE ‘EM LAUGH!”. The wit and wordplay of the comic song has been the mainstay of the English Theatre from Gilbert & Sullivan in the 1870s to the intimate revue style of Noel Coward and Joyce Grenfell and onwards with the likes of Victoria Wood. Join QuickSilver (Hilary Spencer & Grant Baynham) as they revive memories of the great stars in and evening of sparkling entertainment. Tickets £7.50

SATURDAY 9 JUNE at 7.30pm. “An Evening with Miguel Vieira”. Following his sell out performance at The Fold last year we are delighted to have the opportunity of welcoming Miguel back for another evening. Miguel Vieira is a highly acclaimed Portuguese pianist, currently studying in London. This year’s programme will be another musical journey exploring a wide variety of pieces, some very well known and possibly some of his own work. Tickets £7.

Howard Wallace and Friends

SATURDAY 9 JUNE at 7.30pm in the Emmanuel Church, Laindon Road, Billericay. “An Evening of Music with the Stars”. Once again Howard Wallace and Friends will entertain with a programme of music made famous by stars of stage and screen. Tickets £7.50 which includes “wine and chocolates” at half time and are available from Jenny Wallace 01277 654814 or send your request with a stamped addressed envelope to: - 2 Hollyford, Billericay CM11 1EF. Proceeds to the Paul Davies Memorial Fund which helps fund the Cardiomyopathy Association.

 Cream Tea in aid of St Luke’s Hospice

MONDAY 11 JUNE from 2 to 4pm at the house of Christabel and Peter Strong “Ivy Cottage” Laindon Common Road. Joyce Norris Memorial Cream Tea in aid of St Luke’s Hospice. Please come and support this good cause.
