Basildon
and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is proud to celebrate
its 10,000th public member.
Mrs Linda Reynolds, from West Tilbury, was honoured in a presentation at Orsett Hospital.
Mrs Reynolds was greeted by Mr Michael Large, Trust Chairman; two new Public Governors for Thurrock, Harry Doyle and David Langridge and by Cllr Ian Harrison, Appointed Governor. She was also given a guided a tour of the site and facilities by Sally Shean, Staff Governor at Orsett Hospital.
Mrs Reynolds, who runs her own business from home, said: “Basildon and Orsett are the local hospitals for my family, and I thought it would be a good thing to be more involved with them.”
In April 2004, the Trust was among the first ten in the country to achieve Foundation status. Members can have a real influence on the services the Trust provides, and planning for the future. Membership is free and being a member does not take up a lot of time; it’s up to the individual how involved they want to be.
