Easter Monday saw fine weather and a flurry of fantastic homemade boats battling for supremacy in the FoLM annual Great Lake Race. It was a truly family event and enjoyed by all who attended whether as a winner or a competitor. Thanks to everyone who came along and made this race such a success.
We are very excited about the outdoor gym area that we have been planning and which will now become a reality thanks to a Basildon Community Investment Fund award. The equipment is on order and should be installed and ready for use in the summer.
Don’t forget to come and watch the official unveiling of the wooden statues of the Wizard and Dragon on Saturday 23rd May at 11am. There will be storytelling sessions for children and members of FoLM will be on hand to assist with the event from the comfort of our newly refurbished Information Hut, adjacent to the statues. Everyone is welcome!
Visitors to Lake Meadows will have noticed the enormous amount of work recently carried out by the Basildon Borough Council Parks Team. This includes preparing the ground for this years’ Wildflower Walk, planting of the new Rhododendron Bed, providing slabs around the sensory garden and creating a proper path through the ancient woodland area.
All the projects we undertake and the work carried out by BBC help to make the park a more interesting and pleasant place to visit and enjoy.
