WEDNESDAY 3RD AUGUST 2016 – HAMPSTEAD, A LONDON VILLAGE, MORNING COFFEE, LUNCH AND KENWOOD HOUSE
London's richness and variety results from its growth as a tapestry of villages, each with its own character and history. Once a place of highwaymen, today Hampstead is select, opulent and full of stories. We meet our guide at a village pub in the centre of Hampstead at 10.30am for morning coffee and biscuits. Then we take a gentle stroll through the lanes of old Hampstead Today the village of Hampstead has more millionaires within its boundaries than any other area of the United Kingdom. It's a pleasant and easy walk that brings us back to the pub for a tasty roast of the day lunch. After lunch we'll take the scenic route to Kenwood via the Hampstead Garden Suburb.
Kenwood is a superb refurbished country house, gifted to the nation by the Guinness family, remodelled in the 18th century by Robert Adam. We will have a guided tour of the house, free time to explore and there's an attractive cafe where we can buy refreshments before heading home.
Cost: including coach, morning coffee, lunch and entrance to Kenwood £38.00.
