Another Post Office to Close?
You do not need a long memory to remember when there was a Post Office in Bush Hall Parade and soon, if Post Office Limited succeeds in doing the Government's bidding Sunnymede Post Office in Greens Farm Lane will be nothing but a memory too. In a bureaucratic exercise, shrouded in secrecy, they have fingered this vital community facility for closure, irrespective of whether it makes a profit, or whether the people who live in that area make use of it. Hard facts: Nationally there are 4 million less post office customer visits every week than 2 years ago (a 14% reduction). After 2,500 Post Offices have been closed (the Government target for this programme), there will still be 11,700. There are 2 other Post Offices within one mile of the Sunnymede Post Office. But does this Post Office have to be one of the 2,500 to be closed? It is a long uphill walk from Outwood Common to the High Street. It's over a hill to South Green. But there's a bus every half-hour. If you use the Sunnymede Post Office, what will it mean to you if it is closed? You have until November 19th to write to Post Office Limited and tell them. Do it now. The address is just FREEPOST CONSULTATION TEAM or e-mail consultation@postoffice.co.uk
