Billericay Parents Forum

Being a parent is not easy! Children don’t come with a book of instruction. So many Billericay parents are grateful for the help and support that they have had in the past five years from Billericay Parents Forum – a voluntary group which works closely with local health visitors and schools, providing support through positive parenting sessions. These are held at various venues in the town, during both the day and evening. Sometimes a crèche is provided for young children, so that parents can relax and enjoy the course whilst their baby or toddler is safely looked after by registered childminders.

So what are these courses all about? Are they run because someone thinks we are bad parents who can’t cope? On the contrary, the courses, which incidentally are free, are for everyone. All parents do their very best to be good parents, but sometimes it helps just to chat to a few others and realise that you are not alone, others have similar problems and together you can find ways of managing all sorts of family situations, whether you have a toddler having a temper tantrum  or a teenager refusing to communicate.

The courses cover everything from parenting skills, understanding why your child behaves as he does, improving communication and dealing with behaviour issues to improving the quality of life for everyone in the family.

Many parents who come to our courses say that it really has changed their family life and given them some useful ideas to try. So why not give it a try? Maybe you’ll meet a few new friends at the same time? And family life could be calmer with less shouting!
