Charity Concert
On Saturday 15th November Howard is gathering a group of talented musicians, friends, and professional musicians to make music for Charity.  He is joined by a group of eight ladies “Dedicated Divas” who all belong to the Salvation Army, including his own daughter who has sung in previous concerts with her Dad.  This group will provide a high standard of music both sacred and secular for your enjoyment.  As before much of the music Howard will perform with his group will include many special arrangements, some old and well loved, some new.  He is also joined by a professional tenor who will sing an operatic item as well as joining the Chorus. 
The concert will take place in Emmanuel Church, Laindon Road, Billericay and start at 7.30 p.m. and tickets will be priced at £8.00 to include a glass of wine in the interval.  The proceeds of this concert will be shared between The British Heart Foundation and Emmanuel Church, so do come along and support the event.  Tickets are available from Jenny Wallace 01277 654814.  Please send a cheque payable to Jenny Wallace with a stamped addressed envelope to 2 Hollyford, Billericay, CM11 1EF

U3A
Billericay & Basildon U3A caters for those of retirement age who wish to pursue a variety of educational and general interest activities. Meetings are held generally on the fourth Friday of each month (except December) at The Pastoral Centre behind the Roman Catholic Church, Laindon Road, Billericay. Visitors are welcome (admission £1, refunded to anybody subsequently joining the organisation). The next meeting is on:
Friday 24th October. A talk by Howard Bodger on "The Talking Book Service" for visually impaired people.

Billericay Miniatures Club and Billericay Dolls House Club
Saturday 8th November 10.30 - 4pmin the W I Hall, St Edith's Lane, Billericay.  A display of 1/12th and 1/24th scale Dolls Houses, Room Boxes etc., made by club members.  Also several miniatures sales tables.  Admission is free with donations going to our charity for the year, Breakthrough Breast Cancer.  Refreshments and Raffle.   Ring 01277 622297 for more details.

Friends of Samaritans

St Luke’s Hospice
The Autumn Bazaar in aid of St Luke's Hospice will be held on Saturday 18th October in the W.I Hall, St Edith's Lane from 9.15am to 12.30 pm.  Many stalls including Gifts, Cakes and Preserves, Tombola, Raffle, Toys and Bric-a-Brac etc.  Refreshments available.  For further details please contact Doreen Fisher 652774 or Audrey Smith 654838.

Christmas Designs
At the next meeting of the Billericay Floral Art Group, which will be held at 8pm on Wednesday 5 November in the W.I. Hall, St Edith’s Lane, Florence Brown will demonstrate “Designs for Christmas”. In addition there will be a stall of hand crafted gift tags of a seasonal nature. Visitors are most welcome to share this most relaxing evening. Entry fee £5. Painting Classes
Mrs Gene Turner has two places on Friday afternoon from 2 to 4.30pm for people to learn watercolour painting. Beginners, of both sexes, welcome. Cost £5 for two and a half hours. Ring 01277 622981 for further information.

Singing Is Good For You
Singing is great fun and very satisfying, especially when you sing with friends. So give it a try with The Choir for All Seasons. The choir is looking for new members in all voices but especially in basses and first sopranos. Meetings take place in term time in the Music Suite at Mayflower High School on Wednesday from 7.45 to 9.45 pm. Four concerts are planned for the coming season, each one of them with a lively, imaginative programme and plenty of variety and content. Billericay & District Philatelic Society
The Society meets at 8pm on the first and second Thursday of each month (except August) in the Fold Arts Centre, Laindon Road, Billericay. The programme includes speakers, displays, quizzes, and open evenings with visiting dealers, lunches and visits to other clubs.

Billericay Horticultural Society
Meetings of the Society are held in the Day Centre, Chantry Way, Billericay at 8pm. Visitors are welcome and membership costs £5 for single membership and £8 for couples.

Billericay Women’s Institute.
The W.I. offers opportunities for all women to enjoy friendship, to learn, to widen their horizons and together to influence local, national and international affairs. Meetings are held at 2pm on the 1st & 3rd Wednesday of each month in the W.I. Hall, St Edith’s Lane, Billericay.

On Monday 13 October at 7.30pm in the Emmanuel Church Hall, Laindon Road, Billericay, Mark Stacey will give a talk entitled “Victorian Art Pottery”

University of The Third Age (U3A)
All monthly meetings are held in the Pastoral Centre (behind the Catholic Church) Laindon Road on Fridays at 2.30pm. On Friday 24 October Howard Bodger will give a talk entitled “The Talking Book service”.

Open Meeting. 
The Norsey Wood Society will be holding an Open Meeting in the Day Centre, Chantry Way commencing at 7.45pm on Monday 27 November. Graham Bailey will give an illustrated talk on Moths and Butterflies. R.S.P.B. Christmas cards and gifts will be on sale. Everyone welcome. For further details please ring 01277 653852.

October Fest
Billericay United Reform Church is holding a celebration of Sight & Sound on Saturday 11 October from 9.30am to 4pm in the church on Chapel Street, Billericay. Classical singing competitions will be held in the church for adult and junior classes and also for solo voices and choirs. To take part pick up a leaflet from the Cater Museum or the Storyteller Bookshop on the High Street, Billericay. There will also be Arts & Craft demonstrations in the Mayflower Hall during the day in which visitors can participate. Bring a picnic, drinks are provided. In the evening a Celebration Concert will take place in the United Reform Church commencing at 7.30pm. Admission is free with a retiring collection.
On Sunday 12 October at 11am in the United Reform Church, Chapel Street, Billericay there will be a celebration worship featuring Reflections Dance Group.

 Words on India
On Wednesday 15 October in the Billericay United Reform Church, Chapel Street, Billericay the Christian Aid speaker Emma Grant is to talk about India. The subject is “Riches and Poverty in a New Era” Everyone is welcome.

Events at the Fold
Jazz on Saturday 4 October commencing at 7.30pm. “Redbeans n’ Rice” New Orleans Revivalist style jazz band from Norfolk.
Classical Evening Saturday 18 October at 7.30pm. “The Rosewood Piano Trio” The programme will include Schubert’s Piano Trio in B flat major and Ravel’s Piano Trio.

Litter Pick
