MORE POLICE SUPPORT FOR BILLERICAY

In the past it has been normal practice for a police car to be sent from Basildon in answer to a request for police help in Billericay. Now a response car is permanently located at Billericay Police Station and consequently the time taken to respond to a local call will be decreased. Which is not a bad thing when an armed robbery is attempted on the High Street in broad daylight. The police, much to their credit, responded quickly and the attempt was foiled.

FUN NIGHT

Fun Night, organised by the Rotary Club of Billericay Mayflower, will be on Wednesday 13 December when the High Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from 4.30pm. The evening promises to be very entertaining and will also provide an opportunity to purchase your Christmas presents. As always the decorative lights will be provided by the Billericay District Residents' Association, with the financial support of traders and businesses in the town.

PRIMARY CARE TRUSTS (PCT)

At a meeting of Billericay & Wickford Primary Care Group (PCG) Board held on 15 November the progress towards the formation of a PCT in April 2001 was discussed. The response from the consultation process showed that a majority of those people responding were in favour of a PCT formed by the merger of Billericay & Wickford PCG and the Brentwood PCG. Accordingly the Board has recommended that the merger should take place.

A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OUR MEMBERS AND TO THOSE OF YOU WHO HELP TO DELIVER THE NEWSLETTER A SPECIAL THANK YOU FOR YOUR EFFORTS DURING THE YEAR
