Life with the Lions

Welcome to Life with the Lions, what we hope will be a regular short column starting in the next issue of the Resident. Billericay Lions is one of the service organisations in Billericay, probably best known for our Christmas sleigh and our presence at local beer festivals. We meet twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Monday at the Burstead Golf Club. As you can imagine things don’t normally go exactly to plan, giving rise to a bit of fun and friendly banter along the way, and it our intention to share with Resident Readers a little of what we are up to in a humorous manner

Why did I join the Lions? … to have some fun, and make new friends whilst also helping the community.  Well it is working so far ….

 Road Rep Wanted

Once again we are able to offer one of the most prestigious jobs available in Billericay to our members. It has many advantages; the person who is fortunate to hold this position will enlarge their circle of friends, improve their health, some walking is involved, and they will be able to enjoy the vagaries of the English weather. Undoubtedly this privileged person will occasionally make a few canine friends and possibly some of the feline variety. The present incumbent, Mrs Susan Longmire, has held this position for several years but unfortunately she has decided to hang up her walking boots and take a well earned rest. We are very grateful to her for her efforts and wish her well for the future.

Her retirement leaves a gap which we need to fill, so if you wish to join the ranks of the elite and deliver the newsletter to 42 houses in Norsey View Drive, and earn the undying gratitude of this editor, please contact Trevor Stansfield on 01277 623519, write to him at 174 Perry Street, CM12 0NX or e-mail him tremar@aol.com. Hurry do not delay there may be many people who need this type of community involvement.
