CAR PARKING CHARGES IN BILLERICAY

The Association wrote to Basildon District Council seeking an explanation for the increase in season ticket parking prices which other areas, Wickford for example, have not suffered. In their explanatory reply the Council wrote:- "The basis on which members took this decision was that in Billericay there is a very long waiting list for season tickets whereas in Wickford there are season tickets not taken up. We hope, therefore, that the higher charges will encourage those who can to walk, cycle or use public transport and free up some spaces for those on the waiting list who cannot."

I leave you to ponder on this reply and to draw your own conclusions.

 GUINNESS TRUST

The Guinness Trust is to host a public meeting on 2 June 1999 at 7.0pm in Hannakins Farm to determine whether there is a need for additional recreational facilities in Queens Park. The Trust already has outline planning permission for a building to be situated on the south side of Rosebay Avenue but before proceeding further it is necessary to consult with the residents of Queens Park so if you believe there is a need to be satisfied pop along to Hannakins Farm and make your views known.

BDRA NOTICE BOARD - HIGH STREET

The "Old Town Hall" has been sold to Lakevale Developers who have applied for a change of use to Class A3 - Food and Drink with the intention that the building should be used as a bistro/restaurant, if planning permission is given then the building will be refurbished. Consequently the Essex County Council acting through their agents, W S Atkins, have terminated our lease and asked us to remove our notice board, this we have already done. We are looking for another prominent site on the High Street where we can erect our notice board but until we find a satisfactory place we will continue to use our other boards at Queens Park and Gooseberry Green.
